Hello! I'm Catherine, founder of Sunny SLT, an independent speech and language therapy service for children aged 2-16 based in Cheshire. At Sunny SLT, we do things a little differently. We know that speech and language therapy isn't just about goals and targets, it's about understanding each child's world and working together to help them thrive.

Hi, I'm Catherine – Founder of Sunny Speech & Language Therapy

  • Why I started Sunny Speech & Language Therapy

Before retraining as a speech and language therapist, I spent 18 years teaching English in schools and colleges. But becoming a parent changed everything. My youngest son has complex speech and language needs, including Childhood Apraxia of Speech (also known as Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia), Developmental Language Disorder, and Dyslexia. After years of feeling stuck in a system that didn't meet his needs, I decided to take action and completed my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy.

Since qualifying, I've worked in children's community NHS services and pursued specialist training to deepen my knowledge. I love learning, and I want the children I work with to love it too.

  • Where learning, collaboration, and compassion come together

We believe in the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." That's why Sunny SLT is built on collaboration with parents, educators, fellow SLTs and professionals who care deeply about the children we support.

We view every communication journey through the eyes of a parent, educator, and most importantly, a child. By combining clinical expertise with real-world understanding, we set meaningful goals, celebrate progress, and empower every voice.

You can learn more about the communication areas we can help with on our About page.

  • Who we support

We support children aged 2-16 who are experiencing any form of speech, language or communication difficulties, working with families at home or in educational settings such as nurseries, childminders and schools. More information can be found on our About, Parents, and Educators pages.
